the tree looks odd but I agree it does look like the fungus infected the tree branch and fell off on its own and now it looks like a oak tree and a elephant head was carved into it. Nick
We think the branches got infected by the fungus and fell off on its own. Because it doesn’t look like someone cut it off.

We are going out to look at this tree on Monday, because it is on Broward’s campus. This part of the tree is right where the trunk meets the ground; we are wondering if there might of been a large branch there that was a part of the tree.
Good observation Broward. How do you think the tree might have lost the two branches?

We think because there are two swirls there were two branches there. Also the green stuff is moss.

Catherine: It looks like it is moldy and the swirls I think was were a branch was. That tree looks like it has been through lots of storms. I think it is an oak tree.
